About us

The Announcer Online was started on April 27, 2011, and has, in the six years of its existence grown from meagre beginnings to a force to be reckoned with on the Sunshine Coast of South Africa.

Since starting six years ago 384 780 unique visitors have enjoyed watching a total of 9 221 426 pages of news and information brought to them by our small and dedicated team of two and a few part-time columnists when available.

During March this year alone 11 953 unique visitors to The Announcer viewed 280 664 pages, a far cry from where we started in April 2011 when we averaged only 41 000 pages per month for that year.

It has not been an easy road for us, being self-funded and privately owned, keeping the information flow to our readers and we have had to overcome many challenges, some down-right dirty ones, but we are still here and will keep on bringing news to you.

There are many exciting plans in the pipeline to enhance your reading pleasure.

One that has already been implemented is the availability of The Announcer on the free Link app. This free news channel updates automatically each day.

A weekly Announcer Online newsletter has also been introduced. Readers can sign up on our website – www.theannouncer.co.za – particularly if they have an interest in Ndlambe to stay in tune with what is happening in the region.

More news categories are in the process of being added to our line-up. These include both a Current Affairs and a Financial News section with articles by some of South Africa’s most prominent journalists.

Also be on the lookout for special deals from local businesses which will become available via the Link Specials page on the site. Whilst certain conditions apply to the redemption of offers, the service will be available to you wherever you are in South Africa. Contact us for more information at link@theannouncer.co.za

Through our association with the Link app, we will assist residents to play a more active role in their communities, specifically where security, service delivery and business issues are at hand. Watch out for our information evenings, which will start soon and join us to improve the safety and municipal service delivery in our region or check-in to see how we can assist you with the marketing of your business.

So now that our seventh year is upon us we are looking forward to breaking the 10 million page view mark.

The only reason we’re in a position to say this is because of you, our readers, so thanks a million times over to each and every one of you!

Feel free to contact us for more information.
